1602 A Jizhou ware meiping vase with paired birds flying together

Paired birds in flight bring movement to the surface of this meiping vase. The collection describes the motif as birds flying together and dates the piece to the Song–Yuan period. Their placement on the curved body invites viewers to follow the design around the vessel and consider how a container’s surface can carry both imagery and poetic associations.
