Item No.: 1002

Name: A blue-and-white and famille rose covered bowl with imperial poems and a Tuisitang mark
Period: Qing dynasty, Daoguang reign
Height: 12.0 cm

This covered bowl was made during the Daoguang reign in the mid-nineteenth century. Its base bears the four-character mark “Tuisitang zhi” (Made for the Hall of Reflective Thought) in red enamel. Several poems originally composed by the Qianlong emperor in five-character lines, with revisions by the Daoguang emperor, appear in clerical script on both the bowl and its cover.

The body is light, thin, fine, and translucent, with a lustrous glaze. The calligraphy is neatly arranged and evenly spaced, with graceful strokes that give the decoration an elegant character.
