Item No.: 1063
Name: A large green-ground famille rose bowl with flowers on a brocade pattern
Period: Qing dynasty, Qianlong reign
Rim diameter: 18.0 cm
The bowl combines a bright green glaze with a brocade pattern. Seen from above, the floral composition forms an almost equilateral triangle. A central cluster of wild roses is painted in four colors, with a branch extending toward the opposite side of the bowl. A fallen petal, seemingly carried by the breeze, completes the third point of the arrangement. The balance of dense and open areas appears spontaneous, yet is carefully constructed.
