Name: A large Ding ware purple-glazed dish with carved phoenixes and peonies
Period: Song dynasty
Rim diameter: 33.5 cm
The broad surface of this dish provides space for carved phoenixes and peonies, brought together by a purple glaze. Changes of light reveal the depth of the carving and the arrangement of motifs within the circular form.
