Landscape
Using traditional Chinese landscape paintings as the main decorative theme on ceramics often expressed the ancient Chinese literati's dissatisfaction with the government and their longing for a reclusive life in the countryside. This type of ceramic painting first appeared around the late Ming(17 Century) or early Qing dynasty, reaching its peak in the late Qing dynasty(late 19th Century) ea. It reflects their philosophical inclination toward "naturalism “and also expresses their extreme disappointment with official politics, turning instead to a resigned pursuit of personal wellness and seclusion.
